When he was only 8 years old, Dr. Daniel Lee was promised a beautiful, leather-bound Scofield Bible - but only if he would read it cover to cover. He did, for the first time, and has faithfully read it many times since then. Dr. Lee knows the truth, the way and the light, and he has been a devout supporter of Wycliffe to help thousands of others learn it, too.
"The Word of God speaks to people's hearts," Dr. Lee said. But he knows the Word can only really touch people if it is in their heart language. Dr. Lee's passion to help all God's people hear His Word has led him to name Wycliffe and JAARS as beneficiaries in his trust, allowing him to continue his financial support for these works after his lifetime.
"There are many opportunities for me to distribute my assets to help advance the Kingdom of God, but I believe in what Wycliffe does," he said.
Dr. Lee settled on a trust because it eliminates high attorney fees and ensures his assets will be distributed to the Wycliffe organizations he designates.
"A trust protects yourself, your assets, and your future. It makes sure your money goes where you want it to go," Dr. Lee said.
With a trust, Dr. Lee decides how he wants his gift to be distributed. He can benefit one organization or many, and he can choose specific projects, areas, missionaries or funds to support. Or, he may choose to spread his gift among areas needing it most.
Establishing a charitable trust allows Dr. Lee to enjoy his assets now and provide valuable resources to Bible translation, linguistics training and literacy after his lifetime.
